Your grade for the course will be determined by a cumulative point total weighted as follows:

Written Assignments 35%   Midterm 30%   Final Exam 35%

Important: YOU MUST TAKE THE FINAL EXAM TO PASS THE CLASS!

The dates for the exams are as follows:

Midterm: Friday, October 20
Final Exam: Wednesday, December 6, 1:10pm–4:00pm.

NOTE: All exams are CLOSED book. Calculators, notes and books will not be allowed. There are NO makeup exams. If an emergency situation arises which will cause you to miss an exam, you must contact me BEFORE the exam is given. Academic dishonesty will not be tolerated. Possible penalties include a failing grade for the course.

Homework and Graded Assignments:
There will two types of written assignments. The first will be standard homework. For these assignments, most of the grade will be for completeness and effort. I will probably pick one or two problems at random to grade for correctness also. The second type will be more formal. Every so often there will be a special assignment that I will collect and grade. This assignment may contain assigned homework problems from the book or problems that I make up. Homework and graded assignments will be posted on the web page listed above.
